English translation of the principle

In matters relating to religious belief, an acknowledgment according to the outward meaning of the words is accepted where the apparent circumstances do not belie it. Its motives should not be investigated; inquiry is confined to the consequences arising under the rules of the religion or denomination professed by the person. - A difference in denomination between the parties requires application of Personal Status Law 51 of 1984.
