English translation of the principle

Suretyship for an obligation, usually a future one. Its effect. Restriction of the suretyship to its specified term. The suretyship contract must include the maximum amount for which the surety is liable. The surety’s failure to specify a duration for his suretyship. Its effect. The surety may revoke it at any time so long as the secured obligation has not yet arisen. The condition thereof: notifying the creditor at an appropriate time. - 533 - Commercial Suretyship is a gratuitous contract. It must be interpreted narrowly. Doubt concerning it is construed in favour of the surety. Example of a defective interpretation.
