Article 5 of Civil Code

1 - If the new law extends the prescription period, the new period shall apply to every prescription not yet completed, with account taken of the portion of its period that has elapsed. 2 - If the new law shortens the prescription period, the new period shall run from the time it comes into force, unless the remainder of the prescription period under the old law is shorter, in which case prescription shall be completed upon its expiry.
