Article 291 of Personal Status Law

a- The following shall be paid from the estate in the following order: First: An amount sufficient for the funeral preparations of the deceased and the funeral preparations of anyone who died before him whom he was obliged to maintain, to the extent permitted by Islamic law. Second: The debts of the deceased. Third: The obligatory bequest. Fourth: The voluntary bequest within the limit within which it is effective. Fifth: Inheritances according to their order under this Law. b- If there are no heirs, the following shall be satisfied from the estate in the following order: First: The entitlement of a person whose kinship through another person was acknowledged by the deceased. Second: What was bequeathed in excess of the limit within which a bequest is effective. c- If none of these persons exists, the estate, or what remains of it, shall devolve upon the Public Treasury.
