Article 1 of Oil Sector Labour Law

In applying the provisions of this Law, the following shall mean: a - Oil operations: 1 - Operations relating to prospecting or exploration for oil or natural gas, whether beneath the surface of the land or the sea. 2 - Operations relating to the extraction of crude oil or natural gas, or the refining, processing, transportation or shipment of either. b Oil employers: Employers who carry on oil operations under a concession or licence from the Government or carry out such operations as contractors or subcontractors. The award to a contractor of any oil operation provided for in paragraph (a) shall not affect the Kuwaiti worker's continued employment or impair his rights. c - Oil workers: Workers employed by oil employers, subject to the following two exceptions: 1 - This Law shall apply to Kuwaiti workers engaged in construction and in the erection, maintenance and operation of installations and equipment and all related service work. 2 - In national companies, this Law shall apply only to their Kuwaiti workers.
