Custody under Sharia. Its meaning. - The upbringing and care of a minor in the first stage of his life belong to his mother. Guardianship over dealings concerning his person and property, however, belongs to his father. The reason for this. - The mother has the greatest entitlement to custody of her child whenever she satisfies the conditions required under Sharia.
