The bank's obligation to pay the beneficiary what it has undertaken. Must be performed during the validity period of the guarantee. Receipt of the demand after the last day of the guarantee period. Effect. Lapse of the bank's obligation and discharge of its liability towards the beneficiary. Example concerning the effect of the Iraqi invasion on the bank's obligation to pay the value of the letter of guarantee.
