Commercial paper. Must contain certain particulars that make it self-sufficient and precisely define the obligation evidenced therein, so that it can perform the functions of payment and credit. Absence of one of these particulars. Effect. It loses its negotiable character and becomes an ordinary instrument to which the general rules of obligations do not apply, and the debt evidenced therein is not time-barred under the provisions governing limitation of negotiable instruments, but according to the general rules.
