Article 1022 of Civil Code

1 - The possessor shall have recourse by a warranty action against the person from whom he received the right, in accordance with the rules governing a successor's recourse against a predecessor. 2 - The possessor shall also have recourse against the debtor for what he paid in excess of what he owes under the instrument establishing his right, whatever the reason for paying that excess. He shall be subrogated to the creditors whose claims he has satisfied and, in particular, to their security furnished by the debtor, but not security furnished by another person.
