Article 141 of Civil Code

1 - If a person is established to be missing, in that it is unknown whether he is alive or dead, the court shall appoint a curator for him, who shall have authority over his property, upon the application of the Department of Minors’ Affairs or any other interested person. 2 - The court may also appoint a curator for a person who is known to be alive but has been absent for a period exceeding one year and, owing to his absence, is unable to attend to his property himself or supervise anyone whom he has appointed as his agent to administer it.
