Article 144 of Civil Code

1 - A person entrusted with guardianship over the property of a minor, an interdicted person, a missing person, or an absentee is entitled to appropriate remuneration for his guardianship, assessed by the court so as not to burden the ward, unless the guardian has agreed that his guardianship shall be without consideration. 2 - However, entitlement to remuneration for guardianship is confined to the person exercising it. His creditors may not claim it on his behalf. Nor does it pass to the heirs unless the guardian, before his death, had sought judicial recognition of his entitlement to it.
