Article 419 of Jaafari Personal Status Law

Heirs, in terms of inheritance by prescribed share only, by kinship only, or by both together, fall into four categories: The first category: those who inherit by prescribed share only, namely the wife. The second category: those who always inherit by prescribed share, namely the husband and the mother; when inheriting by prescribed share, they inherit by return, that is, by kinship. The third category: those who inherit sometimes by prescribed share and sometimes by return, namely the father, the daughter, daughters, the sister and sisters through the father or both parents, and brothers and sisters through the mother. The fourth category: those who inherit only by kinship, such as the son, brothers through both parents or through the father, the grandfather, paternal uncles and maternal uncles.
