Article 1 of Audiovisual Media Law

In applying the provisions of this Law, the following terms shall have the meaning indicated opposite each of them: . Audiovisual media: Every television or radio broadcasting operation that reaches the public or particular groups thereof through signals, images, sounds, or drawings that are not in the nature of private correspondence, by means of stations, channels, waves, and other modern technologies for television or radio broadcasting and transmission. . Broadcasting: The transmission of visual or audio works or programmes by electromagnetic waves via satellites or other means, whatever their description or nature, enabling the public to receive them through technical means of various designations. .. Rebroadcasting: The reception and rebroadcasting of private channels from within the State of Kuwait for reception within Kuwait by means of modern technology in accordance with a prepaid system. 4. Channel: A channel having transmission equipment for visual or audio satellite broadcasting. h Programmes: Programmes and visual or audio materials of all kinds, or any part thereof, broadcast by the licensee to the public. 6. Frequency: The allocated band of electromagnetic waves, whether visual or audio, which are broadcast into space and used in broadcasting or rebroadcasting operations. Broadcasting licence Permission granted to the licence applicant to establish and operate a channel under the conditions specified in accordance with the form prepared for that purpose and set out in the Executive Regulations. Licensee: The company or sole proprietorship that has obtained a broadcasting licence in accordance with the provisions of this Law. 9. Ministry The Ministry of Information. 10.
