Maintenance for the wife is obligatory upon her husband, and for a poor child incapable of earning, however far down the line of descent, until becoming self-sufficient, upon his well-to-do father. - Maintenance includes food, clothing, housing and associated treatment, service and other things according to custom and the financial ease or hardship of the person obligated, whatever the wife's circumstances.
