English translation of the principle

The burden of damage falls upon the person who directly caused it, in accordance with the provisions of Islamic Sharia and what is contained in the schedule of blood money. The direct actor in Islamic jurisprudence is one whose act, which he personally performed, itself brought about the damage and caused it without an intermediary or the intervention of a matter between the act and the damage directly resulting from it. As for the indirect causer, he is one who was a cause of the event but did not himself bring it about. An example of a direct actor. - Damage occurring directly from the movement of a car that collided with another car obstructing the road in which the victim was riding. The driver of the first car. A direct actor. The reason for this. No matter intervened between its movement and the damage resulting from the collision it caused with the victim’s car.
