The susceptibility of judgments to challenge. A matter relating to public policy. - The general rule is that judgments issued in personal status matters are first-instance judgments subject to appeal regardless of the value of the dispute. The exception: judgments relating to inheritance, wills, endowments, and dower are final if their value does not exceed five thousand dinars. - The legal cause of the claim. What is meant thereby. The juridical fact constituting the source of the right claimed, whether a legal act or a material fact. - Actions incapable of valuation. Their inclusion within the subject-matter jurisdiction of the court of first instance. The implication of that. The judgment issued therein is subject to appeal. - A claim for spousal maintenance and prompt dower. The juridical fact constituting the source of the right to both is a valid marriage contract. The first claim’s being incapable of valuation. Its implication. It may be appealed. The effect of that: the value of the action is considered to exceed five thousand dinars.
