Creation of a commercial instrument. Its effect: an obligation under the negotiable instrument arises alongside an original obligation. The creditor may proceed against his debtor by an action on the negotiable instrument or on the original debt. His pursuit of an ordinary action subjects him solely to its provisions, not those of an action on the negotiable instrument. Reason therefor.
