English translation
The debtor of the pledged debt may invoke against the pledgee defenses relating to the validity of the right secured by the pledge, as well as defenses that he himself has against his original creditor, all to the extent that, in the case of assignment, the debtor may invoke such defenses against the assignee.

يجوز للمدين في الدين المرهون أن يتمسك قبل الدائن المرتهن بأوجه الدفع المتعلقة
بصحة الحق المضمون بالرهن، وكذلك بأوجه الدفع التي تكون لـه هـو قبل دائنة
الأصلي، كل ذلك بالقدر الذي يجوز فيه للمدين في حالة الحوالة أن يتمسك بهذه
