1 - The right of retention shall expire when the thing leaves the possession of the retaining party. 2 - Nevertheless, if the thing leaves his possession without his knowledge or despite his objection, the retaining party may request its recovery within thirty days from the time he learned that the thing had left his possession and before the expiry of one year from its departure.
