Article 75 of Code of Criminal Procedure and Trials

The accused and the victim shall have the right to attend all preliminary investigation procedures, and each may be accompanied by his lawyer in all circumstances. The lawyer may not speak except with the investigator's permission. If the accused is under arrest or detained, the investigator must enable the accused to bring his lawyer during the investigation. The Public Prosecutor and the Director-General of the General Department of Investigations 1( Added by Law No. 3 of 2012 2( Added by Law No. 29 of 2016 —each within his respective competence—may, where required by the necessity of the investigation or in the public interest, order that the investigation be confidential and order a prohibition on publishing any news or information concerning it, by a reasoned decision.
