Article 7 of Municipality Law

The first meeting shall be held under the chairmanship of the oldest member until the Council elects a president and a vice-president. Before undertaking his duties, the member shall take the following oath before the Council in a public session: “I swear by Almighty God to respect the Constitution and the laws of the State, to defend the interests and funds of the people, and to perform my duties with integrity and honesty.”
