Article 468 of Commercial Code

1 - In the event of refusal to pay a lost bill of exchange after payment has been demanded in accordance with the provisions of the two preceding articles, its owner must, to preserve all his rights, establish that fact in a protest drawn up on the day following the maturity date and served on the drawer and endorsers in the manner and within the time limits prescribed in Article 480. 2 - The protest must be drawn up and served even if it is impossible to obtain an order from the president of the court in due time.
