Article 469 of Commercial Code

1 - The owner of a lost bill of exchange may obtain a copy thereof by approaching the person who endorsed the bill of exchange to him. That endorser shall assist him and authorize him to use his name in making his demand upon the preceding endorser. In making this demand, the owner shall proceed from endorser to endorser until he reaches the drawer. 2 - Every endorser shall write his endorsement on the copy of the bill of exchange delivered by the drawer after it has been marked to indicate that it replaces a lost bill. 3- Payment under this copy may be requested only by order of the President of the Court of First Instance and subject to the provision of a surety. 4 - All expenses shall be borne by the owner of the lost bill of exchange.
