Article 42 of Private Sector Labour Law

If a worker is absent from work without an acceptable excuse for seven consecutive days or twenty nonconsecutive days during a year, the employer may deem him to have resigned by operation of law. In this case, the provisions of Article (53) of this Law shall apply regarding the worker's entitlement to the end-of-service gratuity.
