Article 16 of National Assembly Elections Law

Every Kuwaiti who has attained the age of twenty-one full Gregorian years shall have the right to vote, except a naturalized person whose naturalization has not been followed by twenty Gregorian years, pursuant to Article (6) of Amiri Decree No. (15) of 1959 concerning the Kuwaiti Nationality Law. He must have full legal capacity and must not have been the subject of a final judgment for any fraudulent bankruptcy offense, unless he has been rehabilitated in accordance with the law. The exercise of the right to vote and stand for election is conditional upon compliance with the provisions of the Constitution, the law and Islamic Sharia.
