Article 3 of Copyright and Related Rights Law

The protection provided by this Law for authors' rights applies to original works in literature, the arts and sciences, whatever the type of such works, their manner of expression, their importance, or the purpose of their authorship or compilation, immediately upon their creation without the need for any formality, and includes in particular the following: Written materials such as books, booklets and others. Works delivered orally, such as lectures, speeches, poems, anthems, chants and the like. Dramatic works, musical plays, dramatic performances, revues and similar choreography or dance performances, performed through movement or sound or both together. 4 - Works broadcast through broadcasting organizations. Works of plastic art of all kinds, decorative arts, artistic weaving, sculpture, drawing, engraving, lithography and the like. 6 - Audiovisual works. - Musical compositions, whether or not accompanied by words. Protection does not include the functional character of the design, but rather its aesthetic features. 11 - Computer software, whatever its language, manner of expression or form. 12 - Economic feasibility studies. 13 - Collective works. 14 - Joint works. 15 - The following derivative works: a - Works of translation, abridgment, amendment, alteration, commentary, musical arrangements and other adaptations, including works derived from folklore. b - Collections of data, databases, whether in machine-readable form or any other form, which are original by reason of the selection, arrangement or classification of their contents. Protection does not include the content of databases and does not affect rights in that content. c - Collections of works of any kind, such as encyclopedias, anthologies, folkloric expressions of popular heritage and selections thereof, whenever such collections are original by reason of the selection, arrangement or classification of their contents, without prejudice to the rights of authors in respect of each work forming part of such collections. The protection accorded to derivative works shall not prejudice the protection enjoyed by the authors of the original works.
