Article 174 of Environmental Protection Law

The General Protector or his authorized representative may grant a person violating the requirements and standards stipulated in this Law or its Executive Regulations, except for Chapter One of Part Four, a grace period to rectify his violation immediately. If he does not do so within thirty days, or if it becomes apparent during that period that the continuation of the violation would cause serious damage to the environment, the Authority may, in agreement with the entities concerned, take the necessary legal measures to halt the offending activity, close the establishment, or revoke the licence, without prejudice to the penalties set forth in this Law and to compensation for damage arising from these violations.
