Article 9 of Environmental Protection Law

The Board of Directors of the Environment Public Authority shall have all powers necessary to achieve its purposes stipulated in this Law, and shall have, in particular: 1 - Supervision of the implementation of policies established by the Supreme Council for the Environment. 2 - Proposal of national environmental protection plans and emergency plans for confronting environmental disasters, and supervision of their implementation after their approval by the Supreme Council. 3 - Preparation of the Authority's organizational structure, specifying the bodies necessary for it and defining their powers. 4 - Preparation of the internal regulations of the Board of Directors, which shall include, in particular, the following: a - Definition of the powers of the Director-General and his deputies. b - Organization of the work of the Board of Directors, the manner of issuing its decisions, and the rules and procedures for meetings of the committees and working groups formed within the Authority. c - Determination of the remuneration of members of the Board of Directors, the deputies of the Director-General, members of committees and working groups, experts and consultants. e - Issuance of the Authority's internal regulations, including administrative regulations and regulations governing the appointment of the Authority's employees, their promotion and remuneration, benefits in kind or cash granted to them, disciplinary penalties imposed upon them and termination of their service, without prejudice to the provisions of Articles (5, 38) Law Index 285 Home Page Environmental Protection Law Law No. 42 of 2014 concerning Environmental Protection of the Civil Service Law. The provisions of the Civil Service Law and Regulations shall apply to the Authority's employees in matters for which no special provision is contained in its internal regulations. 6 - Approval of the Authority's draft annual budget. - Proposal of draft laws and decrees relating to the environment. - Proposal of the formation of permanent assisting committees and approval of their recommendations. The Board may delegate some of its powers to the Director-General or any of its committees. 9 - Establishment of schedules of fees and charges collected by the Authority in consideration of the services it provides. 10 - Approval of the development, updating and amendment of environmental standards, requirements and implementing regulations. 11 - Review and approval of the penalties prescribed for violators and set out in the Environmental Protection Law, and approval of regulations for settlement of environmental violations.
