Article 28 of Decree-Law No. 15 of 1979 concerning the Civil Service

The disciplinary penalties that may be imposed on employees are: 1 - Warning. 2 - Deduction from salary for a period not exceeding fifteen days on any one occasion and not exceeding ninety days within twelve months. - Reduction of the monthly salary by one quarter for a period of not less than three months and not exceeding twelve months for a single violation. - Demotion to the immediately lower grade; the decision imposing the penalty shall specify seniority in that grade and the employee's salary therein. e - Dismissal from service. Only one of the following penalties may be imposed on holders of positions in the leadership positions group: (a) Written admonition by the Minister. (b) Reprimand. (c) Dismissal from service.
