Article 71 of Decree of 1979 concerning the Civil Service Regulations

Service shall terminate for one of the following reasons: 1- Resignation. 2- Non-renewal of appointment to a leadership position. 3- Referral to retirement. 4- Dismissal by disciplinary decision. 5- Repealed. 6- A sentence to a penalty restricting liberty for a felony or an offence involving dishonour or breach of trust. The Minister may retain the employee if execution of the sentence is suspended by judgment. 7- Loss or withdrawal of Kuwaiti nationality. 8- Medical unfitness for service or exhaustion of sick leave, whichever occurs first. 9- Attaining the age of sixty-five for Kuwaitis and non-Kuwaitis. Excepted from this are mosque imams, preachers and muezzins, washers of the dead, physicians and medical professions, members of teaching and training staffs at public universities and public applied institutes, and scientific researchers at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, whose service shall terminate upon attaining the age of seventy-five, in accordance with the rules and provisions established by the Civil Service Council. 10- Death.
