English translation of the principle

Determining the subject-matter jurisdiction of each judicial body. The criterion is the relief sought by the plaintiff in his action. - Jurisdiction of the Personal Status Circuit. Restricted to disputes whose determination requires application of the Personal Status Law. Article 345 of Law 51 of 1984. - Defining the scope of the action as seeking nullity of the relinquishment, by the grandfather of the minors under the guardianship of the first respondent, of his right to use two plots that he leased during his lifetime, because it deprives the minors of their share in his estate. Its lack of connection with personal status. Necessary consequence thereof: the Personal Status Circuit lacks subject-matter jurisdiction to hear it.
