Subject-matter jurisdiction: attributed to the court, not its divisions. The court's general assembly assigning adjudication of particular actions to the court's various divisions. Does not constitute a matter of subject-matter jurisdiction, but merely an administrative distribution of work among those divisions as a Court of First Instance. The exception: cases in which the law, by a special provision, singles out one of the court's divisions to have jurisdiction to hear particular matters, without this precluding its jurisdiction to hear other matters falling within its subject-matter jurisdiction, unless the law provides otherwise. - 519 - Procedure - The jurisdiction of the Personal Status Division at the Court of First Instance, Court of Appeal and Court of Cassation.
