English translation
If the pledgee takes delivery of the pledged thing, he must exercise in its safekeeping and maintenance the care exercised by an ordinary person. He shall be liable for the loss of or damage to the thing unless he proves that this is attributable to an extraneous cause in which he had no hand.

إذا تسلم الدائن المرتهن الشيء المرهون فعليه أن يبذل في حفظه وصيانته من العناية
