Article 193 of Civil Code

English translation

1 - If the wording of the contract is clear, it may not be departed from by interpretation in order to ascertain the will of the contracting parties. 2 - If there is scope for interpreting the contract, the common intention of the contracting parties must be sought from all its facts and the circumstances of its conclusion, without stopping at the mere meanings of its words or expressions, and guided by the nature of the transaction, prevailing customs, and the good faith and honorable dealing that should exist between the contracting parties.
