Article 346 of Civil Code

1 - The creditor may demand the debt from the joint and several debtors collectively or individually, taking into account any qualification attaching to each debtor's relationship that modifies the effect of the debt. If the creditor initially makes a demand against one debtor, this shall not prevent him from making demands against the others. 2 - The debtor from whom the creditor demands payment may not invoke defenses personal to other debtors, but may invoke defenses personal to himself and those common to all the debtors.
