Article 54 of Civil Code

1- The representative's authority shall be determined in accordance with the provisions of the instrument of his representation. 2- Nevertheless, if the representation arises under an agreement, and the principal announces his representative's authority to the public or notifies one or more specified persons thereof, every person covered by the announcement or to whom the notification was addressed may, in contracting with the representative, rely on the powers contained therein, even if Law Index 949 Home Page Civil Code Decree-Law No. 67 of 1980 AD promulgating the Civil Code they exceed those stated in the instrument of his representation.
