Article 53 of Code of Criminal Procedure and Trials

Police officers may arrest persons in the following cases: First: If a valid written arrest warrant has been issued to them by a person authorised to issue it under the law. Second: If an oral order has been issued to them by a person authorised to issue it, and they execute it in his presence and under his supervision. Third: If a person's attendance has been requested through notification and publication on the basis that he is a fugitive, in accordance with the rules prescribed in this regard.
