Article 98 of Code of Criminal Procedure and Trials

If the accused is present, the investigator shall, before commencing the investigation procedures, ask him orally about the charge against him. If the accused confesses to committing the offence at any time, his confession shall be recorded in the investigation record immediately upon being made, and he shall be questioned about it in detail. If the accused denies the charge, he must be interrogated in detail after the prosecution witnesses have been heard. The accused shall sign his statements after they have been read to him, or his inability or refusal to sign shall be recorded in the record. The accused may refuse to speak, or request that interrogation be postponed until his lawyer attends, or until any other time. He may not be placed under oath, nor may any means of inducement or coercion be used against him. The accused may at any time present his defence, question prosecution witnesses, and request that defence witnesses be heard or that any investigative procedure be undertaken. His requests and defence shall be entered in the record.
