Article 320 of Personal Status Law

Distant kindred comprise four classes, some taking precedence over others in inheritance according to the following order: The first class: The children of daughters, however far down the line of descent, and the children of a son's daughters, however far down his line of descent. The second class: The non-agnatic grandfather, however far up the line of ascent, and the non-established grandmother, however far up the line of ascent. The third class: The sons of maternal half-brothers and their children, however far down the line of descent; the children of full sisters or half-sisters through either parent, however far down the line of descent; the daughters of full brothers or half-brothers through either parent, and their children, however far down the line of descent; and the daughters of the sons of full brothers or paternal half-brothers, however far down the line of descent, and their children, however far down the line of descent. The fourth class: It includes six groups, some taking precedence over others in inheritance in the following order: The first: The deceased's paternal uncles related through the mother, his paternal aunts, his maternal uncles, and his maternal aunts, related through both parents or either parent. The second: The children of those mentioned in the preceding paragraph, however far down the line of descent; the daughters of the deceased's paternal uncles related through both parents or through the father; the daughters of their sons, however far down the line of descent; and the children of the females mentioned, however far down the line of descent. The third: The paternal uncles of the deceased's father related through the mother, his paternal aunts, his maternal uncles, and his maternal aunts, related through both parents or either parent; and the paternal uncles of the deceased's mother, her paternal aunts, her maternal uncles, and her maternal aunts, related through both parents or either parent. The fourth: The children of those mentioned in the preceding paragraph, however far down the line of descent; the daughters of the paternal uncles of the deceased's father related through both parents or through the father; the daughters of his sons, however far down the line of descent; and the children of the females mentioned, however far down the line of descent. The fifth: The paternal uncles of the father of the deceased's father related through the mother; the paternal uncles of the father of the deceased's mother; her paternal aunts; the maternal uncles of both of them; and the maternal aunts of both of them, related through both parents or either parent; and the paternal uncles of the mother of the deceased's mother and of the mother of his father; the paternal aunts of both of them; the maternal uncles of both of them; and the maternal aunts of both of them, related through his two parents or either of them. The sixth: The children of those mentioned in the preceding paragraph, however far down the line of descent; the daughters of the paternal uncles of the father of the deceased's father related through both parents or through the father; the daughters of their sons, however far down the line of descent; and the children of the females mentioned, however far down the line of descent, and so on.
