Article 283 of Bankruptcy Law

Anyone who steals, embezzles or conceals assets belonging to the debtor while knowing of the issuance of a decision opening proceedings to declare the debtor bankrupt shall be punished by imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years, even if that person is the debtor’s spouse, an ascendant or descendant of the debtor, or an ascendant or descendant of the debtor’s spouse. The Court shall, of its own motion, order restitution of the assets, and may, upon the application of interested parties, award compensation where appropriate.
