English translation
If a person loses possession of a cheque, whether it is a bearer cheque or is endorsable, the person to whom that cheque has passed shall not be obliged to relinquish it if he establishes his right to it in the manner set out in Article 527, unless he obtained it in bad faith or committed gross negligence in obtaining it.

إذا فقد شخص حيازة شيك، سواء أكان الشيك لحامله أو كان قابلا للتظهير لم يلزم
من آل اليه هذا الشيك بالتخلي عنه متى أثبت حقه فيه بالكيفية المبينة في المادة ٥٢٧،
