Article 11 of Oil Sector Labour Law

Oil workers shall be entitled during the year to the following sick leave: - Six months at full pay Two months at three-quarters pay One and a half months at half pay One month at quarter pay One month without pay If the illness arises from the occupation or a work injury, or is aggravated thereby, the worker shall be entitled to full pay for the foregoing periods of sick leave. Unless his leave ends upon his complete recovery, the establishment of his permanent disability, or his death. If these periods expire without the worker being able to return to his work, the employer may retain him without salary or dispense with his services while granting him the gratuity to which he is entitled under the provisions of this Law, with sick leave counted as part of the period of service. Illness shall be established by a report from the government body if its duration exceeds fifteen days, and by a certificate from the physician appointed by the employer or the physician in charge of one of the government health units if its duration does not exceed that. If a dispute arises over determining the duration of treatment, the certificate of the government health unit shall override the certificate of the physician appointed by the employer.
