Article 15 of Traffic Law

No motor vehicle may be driven on the road without obtaining a driving licence from the General Traffic Department authorising its holder to drive such a vehicle. The Executive Regulations of this Law shall specify the types of driving licences and permits, the conditions for their issuance, their validity periods, the rules for their renewal, the amount of fees payable for them, and the regulation of the procedures therefor, and shall set out the cases of their cancellation and refusal to grant them, and the provisions on members from obtaining them. The following shall be excepted from the provisions of the first paragraph: 1- Holders of military driving licences issued to them after a technical test in driving cars administered by the competent military technical authorities. These military licences shall entitle their holders to drive military vehicles only. 2- Foreign visitors and tourists holding valid foreign driving licences. This shall be in accordance with the procedures and conditions regulated by the Executive Regulations of this Law.
