Article 68 of Environmental Protection Law

The following marine areas, the upper layers of air above them, and their seabed and subsoil are deemed areas in which causing any pollution of the marine environment by harmful substances is prohibited, whatever its cause, source or quantities, and committing any such act constitutes an offence under the provisions of this Law: a - The internal waters of the State of Kuwait situated behind the closing line of Kuwait Bay. b - The territorial sea of the State of Kuwait, which extends to a distance of 12 nautical miles from the baseline. c - The zone contiguous to the territorial sea, which extends to a distance of 24 nautical miles from the baseline from which the breadth of the territorial sea is measured. d - The waters adjoining the territorial sea, which extend to a distance of 24 nautical miles from the baseline from which the breadth of the territorial sea is measured.
