Article 29 of Law on the Practice of Medicine and Allied Health Professions

Upon admission to the health facility, the patient has the right to express advance directives concerning decisions relating to his health condition, after verification of his mental capacity in the manner specified in Article (12) of this Law, and provided that he records them in writing in accordance with the form prepared for them by the Ministry. All procedures and directives must be documented and retained in the patient's medical file and shall include the following: 1 - Designating one or more persons of full legal capacity or a specified entity to represent him legally in acting and taking the medical measures he specifies. In this case, written consent must be obtained from that person or entity before giving effect to what 2 - Refusing or accepting all or part of any medical procedure specified by the patient after informing him of its medical importance and its effect on his health condition. 3 - Not informing him of the diagnosis of his health condition or its developments and withholding them from him, provided that he is not a carrier of a disease [incomplete word: “mu‘i”].
