English translation of the principle

Ignorance of the provision establishing the offence or an erroneous interpretation of that provision does not preclude the existence of criminal intent unless the law provides otherwise. Article 42 of the Penal Code. - 25 - Penal Law - The appellant’s objection based on his belief that he was legally entitled to use the document that had lost its legal force, for reasons and motives of his own. A manifestly invalid legal defence. The judgment’s disregard of it does not vitiate it.
