Article 1044 of Civil Code

A possessory pledge is not limited to securing the principal right, but also secures, at the same rank: a) Necessary expenses incurred to preserve the thing, without prejudice to the privilege for preservation expenses. b) Compensation for damage arising from defects in the thing. c) Expenses of the contract creating the debt, expenses of the pledge contract and its registration where appropriate, and expenses required for enforcement of the pledge.
