Article 243 of Civil Code

1 - Whoever has custody of a thing requiring special care to prevent damage from it shall be obliged to compensate the damage caused by that thing, unless he proves that the damage occurred due to an external cause consisting of force majeure, a fortuitous event, an act of the injured person, or an act of a third party. 2 - Things requiring special care to prevent damage from them shall include cars, aircraft and other vehicles, mechanical machinery, ships, weapons, electrical wires and equipment, animals, buildings, and every other thing that, by its nature or its situation, exposes persons or property to danger. 3 - Custody of an animal shall remain vested in its custodian even if the animal strays or escapes, until another person takes control of it for his own account.
