Article 47 of Code of Criminal Procedure and Trials

When the investigator receives a report or a police inquiry record concerning a particular incident, he may proceed in one of the following ways, as required by the seriousness and circumstances of the crime: First - Proceed immediately to the scene of the incident to conduct the investigation himself, or conduct it at any other place. Second – Issue an order assigning a police officer to conduct the investigation. Third - Order the police to continue their inquiries if he finds no reason to open an investigation. Fourth - Bring the case against the accused before the court in accordance with the rules prescribed in Article 102. Fifth - Issue a decision to close the file in accordance with the rules prescribed in Article 102. Chapter Two Precautionary Measures 1 :- Arrest
