Article 496 of Commercial Code

1 - The acceptor by intervention shall be liable towards the holder of the bill of exchange and its endorsers subsequent to the person for whose benefit the intervention took place to the same extent as that person. 2 - The person for whose benefit the intervention took place and his guarantors may, notwithstanding acceptance Law Index 1327 Home Page Commercial Law Decree-Law No. 68 of 1980 Promulgating the Commercial Law by intervention, require the holder, in return for their payment of the amount specified in Article 482, to deliver to them the bill of exchange, the protest and the receipt, if any.
